Agbani Darego was the first native African to win the Miss World pageant. The event was held in Sun City, South Africa on November 16, 2001. She had previously won the Most Beautiful Girl in Nigeria 2001 pageant. She has modeled for several well known brands, such as Christian Dior, Sephora, L’Oréal, Avon, Target, and Macy’s. She has also appeared in magazines like Marie Claire, Allure, Elle, Trace, Stitch, Essence, and Cosmopolitan. She has a degree in Psychology from New York University.
